# Spotlight: Manik Akhand @ ChartX

Mar 19, 2026

A spotlight is a short-form interview with a leader in health tech. In this spotlight, you'll hear from [Manik Akhand](https://www.linkedin.com/in/manikakhand/), co-founder of [ChartX](https://www.chartx.ai/).

## What does ChartX do?

[ChartX](https://www.chartx.ai/) is a medical billing company focused on using AI to automate the billing process for assisted living facilities located in California.

## How did you end up working in health tech?

I have several friends and family who work in healthcare; after hearing about their positive experiences using AI-powered documentation tools, I thought something similar should exist for medical billing.

The more I learned about billing, the more elder care, and assisted living in particular, stood out as the right first focus for ChartX.

## How does your role intersect with revenue cycle management (RCM)?

At ChartX, we cover the full revenue cycle for our customers, giving assisted living providers a single, efficient solution rather than a fragmented set of tools.

## What do you think RCM will look like two years from now?

I believe agents, powered by cutting-edge models, will automate the entire process: prior auth checks, transcribing clinical notes, translating clinical notes into respective ICD and CPT codes, claim submission, as well as reconciliation and claim appeals.
